In Vivek’s own words
I have been born and brought up in Kolkata, and moved out of Kolkata only when I joined Sri Balaji Society in 2001 on recommendation of my one of my childhood friend who was already studying in the senior batch. Now, that I look back it was one of the decision which has made me what I am today and truly changed by life. I did my specialization in Finance and IT, out of a batch of approximately 250, we were 10 specializing in Finance and IT course at that time. Am sure things are very different now. Initial days at the campus, life was tough with packed schedules, small school benches (we were at the school campus then unlike the current humungous campus with all modern facilities and amenities) and classes from 3.30 PM to 8.30 PM (IT classes were in the morning). The initial adjustment was tricky, however with a couple of months it all sorted out. I truly cherish the time spent and friends made at Sri Balaji Society for lifetime.
Through Sri Balaji Society, I got campus placement at Tata Technologies and was drafted into the SAP functional team along with few of my batch mates, I frankly had no clue what is SAP till the time I joined. Then moved to HCL Technologies and then Wipro Technologies and finally Accenture in 2007 – also the year I got married, (settled personally and professionally at the same time, got married a month before joining Accenture). During my professional stint, have had the privilege to visit various countries for short term as well as long term for various clients, each helping me learn and grow. I currently manage a portfolio of clients across geographies as well as business development.
On the personal front, blessed with 2 wonderful kids (son and a daughter) and my wife who is a homemaker and has always supported me and let me take wings in my professional career. My son is in 2nd standard and daughter is in playschool.
My strong belief is ‘There are no shortcuts to Success’. We may gain some short term advantage or benefits but they do not last and we should always aim for continued excellence.
I remember when we joined Sri Balaji Society we did not quite like the 7 days a week hectic schedule, but now when I look back that was the most important learning and has prepared us for life after college.
Sri Balaji Society provided me with the right platform to express myself and prepare to excel in my professional career and continues to do the same for budding student managers. It provides the right impetus to put you on the path of growth and success.
Wish you- candidate student managers seeking to apply for admissions, current student managers, Alumni - all the very best... keep shining!
